A highly successful healthcare communications professional with over 31 years of experience in research and communications, my career started in the Pharmaceutical industry. Following roles in both basic research and a broad range of clinical / commercial roles I developed strong expertise in strategic, solution-oriented medical education and communications planning throughout the product lifecycle.
After 20 years working in industry I wanted a new challenge. So, in 2001 I left AstraZeneca to set up greensplash, an independent medical communications and design company based in Cheshire, UK.
greensplash is now is its eleventh year and firmly established as a key player in the communications and design arena. We have a great team of inspired professionals whose dedicated focus and attention-to-detail ensure that all of our projects are delivered to the highest standards, whilst remaining aware of timeliness and budget. Although being the control freak that I am I keep an active presence in all projects.
When not working I am usually socialising with family and friends or spending time with my two gorgeous dogs, Zak and Boo – both of whom are regular visitors to the office too. Long walks are a ‘must’ for these very active dogs so weekends, rain or shine, are spent out enjoying the Cheshire countryside. However, when the wet British weather gets too much you will find me heading off somewhere hot to relax and partake in my hobby of ‘fair weather’ scuba diving.
With over 14 years in the industry, I am the Creative Director of greensplash Ltd. Before the creation of the company back in 2001, I studied Design Communication, graduating in 1998. I then spent the next 3 years working in agency environment learning my trade in both creative web and print design that led to creating brand identities and all forms of marketing and print collateral for clients.
Since the incorporation of greensplash I have strived to build a team of creative, multidisciplinary, technical, graphic and web developers – who, with my guidance and knowledge now apply their skills and knowledge to clients in variety of industry sectors, ensuring greensplash offers stand out creative design solutions.
My keen eye for detail also guarantees only the highest quality output is submitted to our clients and nothing is submitted without being seen by me first.
Something not many people know about me is that I am an accomplished and experienced drummer, playing in my first band at the age of 14 and had residencies in pubs and clubs between the ages of 15 – 18. Although it very much takes a back seat with the day-to-day rigours of owning businesses and other interests, I continue to play in bands – with heavy rock and metal being my music of choice.
I joined the company wide eyed and fresh faced way back in 2004 as an Account Administrator and have worked my way up the company to my current role as Account Manager overseeing one of our key accounts. So it’s pretty safe to say that I know the Company and our Clients inside out!
No two days are the same at greensplash and having a meticulous eye for detail I ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget and that any risks are identified and managed before they become issues. It’s not all work, work, work though, it’s also about maintaining relationships with Clients, Opinion Leaders and other third party providers, a part of the job I adore!
When not in the office my free time is mostly spent shopping (a girl’s prerogative!!), working out at the gym or enjoying a nice bottle or two of wine with friends!
Working at greensplash is a great learning curve each day! My role as Senior Account Executive means assisting the account managers in numerous projects and providing effective support throughout the life cycle of each project.
My main strengths of attention to detail and efficiency lend themselves well to my role in such a fast-paced environment so being “on the ball” is essential, and my strong communication skills ensure that all parties involved within a project, whether they be the Client or other agencies, are kept fully informed with timely updates.
Outside of work I like keeping fit by salsa dancing regularly and am a make-up artist in my spare time.
I joined greensplash after leaving university, bringing with me a wealth of fresh ideas and enthusiasm and since then I have gained experience working on simple brochure sites through to ecommerce solutions using various open source technologies. No two projects are the same, small or large so I can either be found working alone at my Mac, or leading the team of other creative designers and developers on a project.
I am always keen to seek out new ways to make websites visual and interesting following the latest web trends and development techniques, offering support and mentorship to colleagues in order for them to successfully complete projects and meet their personal targets.
When not at work I’m usually found relaxing at home, either continuing to complete the DIY on my house or gaming with my friends in ‘Call of Duty’.
A chance encounter 5 years ago with Karen and Andy gave me the opportunity to work for greensplash and I haven’t looked back since! Coming from a graphic designer background I have developed my role in greensplash which now encompasses the management of projects from concept to delivery, whether it be web, print or brand design.
I love spending time with clients to really understand their goals and aspirations, delivering a service second-to-none.
Outside of work I can be found shopping and meeting my friends for tea and cake, and when motivation decides to kick in I will be at the gym working off those calories!
I enjoy visiting different countries and cities and I am slowly ticking off my ‘places to visit’ list.
From concept design to the building of websites that adhere to industry standards and practices, I am the guy to talk to all things web development!
Working for the past five years as a freelance web developer, I always wanted to join a successful digital agency to further my skillset in a commercial environment, collaborate with other like minded individuals and be part of a team working on projects – I found all of this in greensplash! I relish working towards deadlines and having the attention to detail that is required in a commercial environment.
Photography, cycling, hill walking are hobbies of mine. Photography though is a real passion that goes hand in hand with walking up mountains and capturing some stunning scenery. I also like to comment on various industry related blogs, feeds and keep up to date with the latest trends in web development.
Sat in my office at home one day, I decided to randomly ‘google’ my ideal job, I couldn’t believe it when up popped a perfect job at greensplash in Cheshire. Nearly 3 years on, I am in a job I love, that brings great job satisfaction.
I am a qualified marketing professional, (Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing and Chartered Institute of Marketing examinations) and have worked for 20 years in marketing management positions for international companies.
As Business Development Manager (Design Division), I am responsible for creating new business opportunities whilst building on our much valued existing client relationships.
I love meeting new clients, listening to their requirements and really enjoy seeing a project from brief to delivery and how we as an agency can truly contribute to business growth.
Outside of work, I am a taxi driver to my two children and I also enjoy cooking, reading and playing tennis.
I’m Zak, called the ‘Beautiful One’ by those that know me, I’m sure you can see why! Being more reserved than my sister, I like nothing more than curling up next to Karen’s desk and earning a well deserved rest.
It’s difficult looking this gorgeous all the time!
I’m Boo, the newest addition to the greensplash team. Although I’m very young, I come into work most days and have learnt the office procedures very quickly.
The list of my talents include opening the post and greeting visitors with a big wiggle and wag of my tail!
